WHY A RITUAL

When life feels heavy, a ritual can meet you where words cannot.

Some things do not fit into a plan. A season that will not turn. A household that never quite settles. A body tired in a way rest does not fix. For a thousand years the answer in this tradition was not advice — it was a drawing, made by hand, for one person and one situation.

A quiet moment of seeking before a temple altar

One person, one drawing

Nothing here is printed in advance. The talisman is drawn for you.

Your name, inscribed

Your name and your stated intention go onto the paper by hand.

Consecrated, then sent

The drawing is consecrated at the altar before it leaves.

WHY SEEKERS TRUST THESE PRACTICES

Why Seekers Trust These Taoist Practices

One practitioner. One altar. One drawing for your intention — never mass-produced.

One order at a time

Nothing is pre-printed or pulled from a shelf. Your talisman is drawn after you book, with your name and intention in it.

茅山

Maoshan lineage

The forms follow the Wufuxu scripture and its transmission, not a decorative approximation of it.

Cinnabar on ritual paper

The materials the classical texts specify — nothing chosen for how it photographs.

记录

A written record

You receive a written account of the rite performed for your order, naming what was done and when.

CHOOSE YOUR INTENTION

What do you need help with?

Each talisman is drawn and consecrated for a specific intention.

護Protection

財Wealth

Stop money slipping through your fingers.

Wealth, Career & Success

Align your effort with abundance, career momentum, and clear recognition. Seven classical petitions for gain, promotion and study.

Wealth God Talisman

财神符

What is it?

The Wealth God talisman (财神符) is a hand-written Fulü associated with Cai Shen, the folk-Taoist deity of wealth. Temples most often honour Zhao Gongming (赵公明) in the martial wealth tradition, while the scholarly wealth figures Bi Gan (比干) and Fan Li (范蠡) belong to the civil tradition; regional practice varies and many households simply name the deity as Cai Shen.

Why people ask for it

People traditionally request it when trade feels slow, when expenses press harder than income, or at the turn of the year before reopening a business. It is a petition for lawful gain and steadier habits rather than a claim on any particular sum.

Who it is for

Shopkeepers, market traders, salaried staff whose income swings with commission, and households trying to steady their cash flow.

Five-Way Wealth Talisman

What is it?

The Five-Way Wealth talisman (五路财神符) invokes the five directions of the wealth tradition — the four treasure-bringing attendants of the east, west, south and north, gathered around the central martial wealth deity Zhao Gongming (赵公明). It is the drawing used when gain is expected to arrive by more than one road.

Why people ask for it

It suits people who earn across several streams, whose work depends on many contacts, or who are opening a second venture. In temple practice it is often written at the start of a trading season rather than for a single transaction.

Who it is for

Businesses that depend on several streams at once — wholesale, retail, online and referrals — rather than one channel.

Windfall Wealth Talisman

What is it?

The Windfall Wealth talisman (偏财符) belongs to the branch of the wealth tradition concerned with gain that is not a salary: a sale closing, a settlement, a commission, a debt recovered. In folk practice it is often associated with Guan Yu (关羽) in his martial wealth aspect, distinct from the steady-income petition.

Why people ask for it

People request it around auctions, negotiations, speculative ventures and one-off opportunities — moments where the outcome is genuinely uncertain and the effort has already been made.

Who it is for

People in irregular or commission-based work — sales, freelance, project-based — where income arrives unevenly.

Promotion Talisman

升官符

What is it?

The Promotion talisman (升官符) is drawn for advancement inside a structure — a rank, a title, a seat at a fuller table, or recognition from those who decide. In the classical reckoning it belongs with the Lu (禄) current: the portion of fortune that concerns position rather than money.

Why people ask for it

It is traditionally requested before a review cycle, an examination board, a transfer decision, or a period when one’s work is visible but not yet rewarded. It is the petition of the person who has already done the work.

Who it is for

Employees preparing for a review or application, and anyone who wants recognition for work already done.

Career Talisman

事业符

What is it?

The Career talisman (事业符) is the general petition of working life rather than of one event: keeping momentum through the long middle of a project, finishing what was started, and being trusted with more. It is the drawing of the practitioner rather than the gambler.

Why people ask for it

People request it at the start of a venture, when a long project is stalling, or when they are carrying more responsibility than before and want to hold it well. It is often renewed annually in temple practice.

Who it is for

People starting a new role, changing industry, or rebuilding momentum after a setback at work.

Career Harmony Talisman

What is it?

The Career Harmony talisman (事业和合符) addresses the human side of work — the colleague, the business partner, the negotiation that keeps stalling, the team that cannot agree. It draws on the Harmony (和合) current of the tradition, applied to professional rather than romantic bonds.

Why people ask for it

It is traditionally requested when friction with a specific person is costing something real: a delayed deal, a divided team, a partner whose interests have drifted. The names of the parties are inscribed at the handwriting step.

Who it is for

Anyone whose work depends on cooperation — teams, partnerships, and people navigating a difficult workplace.

Academic Success Talisman

学业符

What is it?

The Academic Success talisman (学业符) is drawn under the Wen Chang (文昌) current — the scholarly tradition of the classical examination system. It concerns clarity of mind under pressure: recall, composure, and the ability to say what one actually knows.

Why people ask for it

Families request it for students before entrance examinations, for candidates sitting professional qualifications, and increasingly for adults returning to study later in life. It is common for a parent to order it on a child’s behalf.

Who it is for

Students at every level, and adults sitting professional exams or returning to study.

Protection & Safety

Walk with calm and grounded protection. Eight classical petitions for personal safety, the home, and clearing what weighs on the mind.

Personal Protection Talisman

护身符

What is it?

The Personal Protection talisman (护身符) is the most widely used protective Fulü in the tradition — a general petition for safety and for warding off influence that feels hostile or draining. Unlike the household drawings, it is carried on the person, which is why it is written small and sealed.

Why people ask for it

People carry it through travel, medical treatment, difficult workplaces, and seasons of life that simply feel unsafe. It is the drawing most often given to someone else as a gift.

Who it is for

Frequent travellers, night-shift workers, people living alone, and anyone who wants a steadying presence while away from home.

Anti-Gossip Talisman

What is it?

The Anti-Gossip talisman (防小人符) addresses the small harms done by people who will not say things to your face — rumour, quiet opposition, credit taken for another’s work. In the classical idiom these are the xiao ren (小人), the small-minded, and the drawing is one of the older protective petitions.

Why people ask for it

It is traditionally requested in workplaces with shifting politics, in family disputes, and in any setting where reputation is doing the work. It is drawn for protection, not for retaliation.

Who it is for

People in close-quarters workplaces or small communities where talk travels and reputations are fragile.

Peace & Safety Talisman

平安符

What is it?

The Peace & Safety talisman (平安符) asks for the ordinary good that is easiest to overlook: arriving, returning, and sleeping without incident. It is the classic petition for travellers and for family left at home, and among the most common drawings in any temple.

Why people ask for it

It is requested before long journeys, for those working away, for infants and elders, and at the New Year for the household as a whole. Names are inscribed at the handwriting step, and it is common to include several.

Who it is for

Travellers, expatriates, families with members scattered across countries, and anyone entering an uncertain season.

Disaster-Relief Talisman

What is it?

The Disaster-Relief talisman (百解消灾符), literally the ‘hundred releases’, is drawn when difficulty has arrived as a pattern rather than an event — illness, loss and bad timing following one another until the sequence itself feels like the problem. It is one of the most complete of the clearing drawings.

Why people ask for it

People request it after a run of misfortune, at the close of a hard year, or on behalf of a family member who cannot seem to catch a break. In temple usage it is often accompanied by a formal release rite.

Who it is for

People coming through a hard year — illness, loss, accident, financial shock — who want a formal close to it.

Home Protection Talisman

What is it?

The Home Protection talisman (镇宅符) is drawn for a place rather than a person — a request that a household be settled and that what is unwelcome not enter. In tradition it is placed at the door or threshold, or at the four corners of the property, and the family name or address is inscribed.

Why people ask for it

It is requested when moving into a new home, after a difficult period in a house, on behalf of elderly parents living alone, and by shopkeepers protecting premises. It is often renewed annually.

Who it is for

New homeowners, renters moving in, and families who want the household itself settled rather than any one person.

Five Thunder Talisman

What is it?

The Five Thunder talisman (五雷符) draws on the Thunder Department of the tradition, associated with the Thunder Sound deity and the celestial offices that govern it. It is among the most forceful of the protective drawings, made for situations where gentler petitions are judged insufficient.

Why people ask for it

It is traditionally requested in serious circumstances — prolonged hostility, a household under sustained pressure, or a season where ordinary protection has not felt like enough. Because of its weight, we prepare it only after a full cleansing of the altar.

Who it is for

Those facing something they cannot resolve by ordinary means — a long deadlock, a persistent threat, a situation that needs firm closure.

Spirit-Clearing Talisman

净心符

What is it?

The Spirit-Clearing talisman (净心符) is drawn for restlessness rather than danger — the mind that circles, sleep that will not settle, a sense of being weighed down without a nameable cause. It belongs to the inward-quiet side of the tradition rather than the protective one.

Why people ask for it

It is requested during grief, after a shock, in periods of overwork, and by people whose minds will not stop at night. It is often ordered alongside a health drawing rather than instead of one.

Who it is for

People who feel weighed down, restless at night, or unable to settle after a disturbing period — as a practice, alongside real care.

Evil-Warding Talisman

What is it?

The Evil-Warding talisman (驱邪符) is drawn against influence understood as actively hostile rather than merely draining. In the classical tradition it is a protective drawing with a long history in household and temple use, distinct from the gentler peace and protection petitions.

Why people ask for it

It is requested after a frightening experience, in homes where a room simply does not feel right, and in some cases alongside the household protection drawing for complete coverage.

Who it is for

People who want a clear boundary around themselves or their household — a formal way of saying ‘this far and no further’.

Health & Relationships

Restore balance between body, mind and the people you love. Three classical petitions for vitality, longevity and harmony.

Health Talisman

健康符

What is it?

The Health talisman (健康符) is drawn for the body’s own work of holding and mending — for convalescence, for a season of low energy, for steadiness through a course of treatment. It is one of the oldest petitions in the tradition and one of the most quietly requested.

Why people ask for it

Families order it during illness and recovery, for a course of treatment, and for a parent or spouse whose energy has not returned. Names — often several — are inscribed at the handwriting step.

Who it is for

People in recovery, carers, and anyone who wants companionship through a period of treatment — never as a substitute for it.

Longevity Talisman

What is it?

The Longevity talisman (长寿符) belongs to the oldest layer of the tradition, associated with the southern star of long life. It is a petition for length of years and, just as importantly in the classical framing, for those years to remain fruitful rather than merely numerous.

Why people ask for it

It is most often ordered for a parent or grandparent, at milestone birthdays, and on behalf of an elder whose health has begun to concern the family. It is rarely drawn for oneself.

Who it is for

People marking a milestone birthday, and adult children who want to honour an elder’s years.

Love Harmony Talisman

和合符

What is it?

The Love Harmony talisman (和合符) draws on the Harmony current of the tradition, personified in the two figures He and He (和合二仙) — companions whose bond is the classical image of accord. It is drawn for the bond between two people rather than for one person’s desires.

Why people ask for it

It is requested by couples in friction, by partners kept apart by work or distance, by families in dispute, and by those seeking a bond rather than an outcome. Both names are inscribed at the handwriting step.

Who it is for

People in an existing relationship who want it steadier, and singles who want to be more open — never to compel anyone else.

Luck & Life Flow

When the year feels heavy, shift the current. Four classical petitions for turning fortune, the year lord, helpful people and steady flow.

Luck-Turning Talisman

转运符

What is it?

The Luck-Turning talisman (转运符) is drawn at a season where effort and outcome have come apart — when nothing in particular is wrong and nothing is going well. It belongs to the current of the tradition that concerns the turning of a period rather than the winning of an event.

Why people ask for it

People request it after a job loss, at the end of a long difficult stretch, when moving city or country, and at the start of a year they want to be different from the last. It is often renewed at the New Year.

Who it is for

People coming out of a run of bad luck who want a deliberate line drawn between the old stretch and the next one.

Tai Sui (Year Lord) Talisman

What is it?

The Tai Sui talisman (太岁符) is drawn for the Year Lord — the classical reckoning in which certain years sit awkwardly against one’s own birth year. The sixty Tai Sui deities cycle with the sixty-year calendar, and in folk practice the year’s officer is honoured rather than opposed.

Why people ask for it

It is traditionally drawn at the turn of the year and kept for its duration, most often in the animal years that clash with or offend one’s own. Elderly relatives and those beginning something significant in such a year are common recipients.

Who it is for

People whose birth sign meets the year’s Tai Sui — for 2026 (Bing Wu, Fire Horse): Horse, Rat, Rabbit and Ox — and anyone who wants the year formally acknowledged.

Noble Helper Talisman

What is it?

The Noble Helper talisman (贵人符) is drawn for the appearance of the person who helps without being asked — the senior who speaks for you, the introducer, the one whose word carries in a room you are not in. In the classical framing these are the gui ren (贵人), the noble ones whose path crosses yours at the right moment.

Why people ask for it

It is requested when entering a new field, when a decision rests with someone you cannot reach, before interviews and auditions, and by people whose work depends entirely on introductions.

Who it is for

People navigating situations where a good ally matters — a new city, a new industry, a project that needs a door opened.

THE LEGEND  ·

Two men found the same scripture.
Only one was taught how to use it.

Great Yu, who tamed the floods, received this text from the hands of the Yellow Emperor and Emperor Ku. He hid one copy in a mountain vault and gave one to the water spirits — “the Numinous Treasure of the Five Talismans, hidden in the stone, revealed once in ten thousand years.” A thousand years pass. It is found again. And then the story splits in two.

THE ROAD THAT FAILED

The kings who took it by force.

In 503 BCE King Helü of Wu sent the hermit Longwei Zhangren four hundred miles into the cavern to seize the scroll. He walked 174 days to reach it. The king got the paper — and never the teaching. His son Fuchai seized it again at Mount Lao. Father and son both held the scripture. Both lost their kingdom.

When the king asked Confucius to read it, Confucius would not even open the box. His verdict:

Only immortals can use this writing. A king cannot obtain its art.

THE ROAD THAT WORKED

The man who was given it.

Hua Ziqi of Jiujiang spent twenty years in the mountains, living on herbs and hiding his trace. Then he met the hermit Lu Li — and was formally taught the Numinous Treasure method. Not handed a book. Taught the art.

Day by day he grew younger, with the complexion of a maiden. He could walk five hundred li in a day, lift a thousand catties, and shed his skin ten times in a year. He ascended into the sky in broad daylight.

The scripture draws the conclusion itself — and it is the reason this shop exists:

神文非啟授而攬之者,鮮不為禍也。
A divine text seized without transmission seldom fails to bring disaster.

The scroll was never the talisman. The transmission was.
Which is why nothing here is sold as a printed design to hang on a wall. Every Fu is drawn by hand in cinnabar and consecrated (開光) by an ordained Taoist master — the transmission, carried through the lineage, attached to the paper.

WHAT THE SCRIPTURE PROMISES  ·

Not our words. The scripture’s own.

Every line below is quoted from 《太上洞玄靈寶五符序》. We did not write the promises — the text did. What it promises to those who receive it properly is health, longevity, prosperity, protection, and a life in balance.

Enduring life, by the work of the nine breaths.
Health & body — the eastern talisman,

Long life, by the merit of the three breaths.
Fortune & vitality — the southern talisman,

It commands the truth of the nine heavens… it rewards merit and strikes down demonic essences.
Career & protection — the central talisman,

Grey hair turns dark again; the withered return to infancy.
Renewal & wealth — the western talisman,

It harmonises the two principles so they do not tilt, and preserves all lives far into the distance.
Peace & family — the northern talisman,

Day by day younger, complexion of a maiden; five hundred li a day, a thousand catties lifted.
What it did for Hua Ziqi — who received it by transmission

We are careful with this page. A talisman is not medicine and not a financial instrument — it is a spiritual practice, and we will never promise you a specific outcome. What we can promise is that the form, the ink, the lineage, and the consecration are real. Read exactly what we claim — and what we do not.

THE SCRIPTURE  ·

Scripture of the Five Talismans of the Numinous Treasure. A “Gu Lingbao” scripture composed in the Wei–Jin period, already quoted by Ge Hong in the Baopuzi. Three scrolls: the upper on the visualization of spirits and the ingestion of breath; the middle on herbal recipes; the lower on talismans and the warding of evil.

It survives today in the 正統道藏 (Zhengtong Daozang), the orthodox Taoist canon completed in 1445 — filed in the Dongxuan section, Divine Talismans category (神符類), fascicle 183 of the Hanfenlou edition. Catalogue no. 387 in the Daozang Tiyao.

  • Composed c. 317–350 CE — the earliest Taoist scripture devoted wholly to talismans
  • Preserved in the orthodox Taoist canon of 1445
  • The chart shown here is photographed from the canon itself — fascicle 6, p. 624 of the Zhengtong Daozang

CAPACITY

Only a limited number of rituals per day

Each talisman is written and consecrated at the altar by hand, one order at a time. We set a daily ceiling of 12 rituals so that no drawing is rushed. When the day’s bookings are full, the next available slot opens the following day.

This is a real capacity limit, not a countdown timer. If we tell you a day is full, it is full.

Why Authenticity Matters

Most “talismans” sold online are decorative prints — ink on paper, no lineage, no ritual.
A true Fu requires four things: the correct paper, real cinnabar, a master of an ordained lineage,
and the consecration that gives it purpose.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is it really blessed by a Taoist master?

Yes. Every talisman is consecrated by an ordained Maoshan Taoist master before it is sealed and shipped.

What makes a hand-drawn cinnabar talisman different?

Each Fu is drawn by hand with real cinnabar ink on traditional yellow ritual paper. No two are identical — a printed product carries none of the ritual meaning.
